Registry Fix

There's a reason why it still continues to turn up in advertisements and searches, and it's not because of artificially manipulating search engine results. Quality is quality regardless of popularity, and "word of mouth" —regardless if it's virtual in nature—spreads quite fast in the Internet. Once you get your own copy of the straightforwardly named Registry Fix, you'll find out the benefits it presents.

A First Look at Registry Fix

Of course, once we got our own copy of the software, it became readily apparent to us why it isn't very popular in the first place: Registry Fix has a very basic interface. In today's world of flashy graphics and intuitive interfaces, Registry Fix looks as unremarkable as a spreadsheet program, which would understandably turn off a lot of users who don't even know the significance of using a registry cleaner in the first place. On the flip side, its Spartan interface assures that it doesn't hog your memory, which is a good thing.

What you have when you run the application is several "sections to scan" options on the right of the window and three main buttons on the left. The layout of the program needs improvement, but there are definitely worse and less intuitive applications out there. At any rate, the entire look and awkwardness of the software shows why it isn't as popular as it should be.

Registry Fix’s Core Components

The basic options on the right are as follows: advanced options, manage backups, and fix errors. The advanced options include a full registry backup utility, an add-remove program manager that uninstalls programs without leaving obsolete registry entries, a startup program manager that can disable startup programs, and a browser helper manager that disable plugins and toolbars.

The first thing that comes to mind to any computer user with a modicum of PC know-how when looking at the above options is that, while most of the browser helper manager is useful, most of the other features are extraneous because Windows itself already offers those convenience already regardless of how much more "clean" your registry will be by using Registry Fix's utilities.

Let's face it: the main reason why people even bother with registry cleaners is because they simply want to clean their registry once their computer starts acting up. Any other feature that a registry cleaner has outside of registry cleaning is gratuitous at best.

Overall Impressions About Registry Fix

Registry Fix, as far as fixing the registry is concerned, does the job. It will scan and remove errors, but that's all you can really expect from it. On the other hand, even though scanning time takes a little bit longer than other more established registry cleaners, it at least reports twice as many errors. The software is also stable and easy to use by anyone regardless of its unexceptional interface.

Although there are many better options out there, Registry Fix still gets the job done, and that is what's important. In conclusion, Registry Fix is a very basic software that can do the job it's supposed to do—remove redundant and obsolete entries in the registry—but don't expect much more, especially if you're used to better registry cleaning programs like RegCure.
